am still working on the blogsite and the concept of blogging. I resisted morning pages today--thought i'd try to switch to the inner landscape and quickly went into procrastination mode. the last posting i made it was 93 degrees and i was so hot i couldn't move--this morning it's 59-60 and i'm feeling more energetic.

It's about midnight and I am getting ready for sleep. It's hot again but the weatherman says tomorrow we'll get the inversion layer back and the temperature will drop. I hope so. This evening Molly drove down from Felton and we took the girls to Antonelli's pond so they could swim. It was beautiful there and we saw several red-winged blackbirds. All of the birds seemed restless and disturbed--probably it was just their dinnertime, though maybe it was our presence; our pack of natural born killers.
She and Nick (her boyfriend) and I went to dinner and drove back home the long way making the loop around by the lighthouse. There were hundreds of surfers out. We played the stereo loud and Nick sang in the back seat and Molly rocked out in the front while I drove. She laughed hysterically at Nick who didn't know the words so he was faking it in a loud voice. The air was full of ozone and iodine smells. Nick is an odd little duck but he is the first guy who has every been comfortable going out of control with M and me on our little jaunts of happy madness.
I don't know where we are going with this blogging but I think writing is good and making art is good. It feels like the right direction. Do we have rules or objectives? Also, you are an "administrator" as am I which means you can edit and change both of our postings.
It's time to read and repeat this long ass prayer 3 times for Billy whose nearing the end of his 49 day transition, according to the Buddhist system. Goodnight sweet moon.

Yesterday it was hot, hot, hot and finally at 11:30 last night I decided I had to go to sleep. I went to the back door to round up the Red Furious and she was somewhere back in the dark in the far back yard. She loves the dark! She wouldn't respond to my calls so I told the Mayzer who was standing by my feet, "Go get Furious". She charged down the sidewalk to the back and began barking. I had to get a flashlight and shoes and go find out what was happening.
I could see that she had a small animal in her mouth. At first, I thought, "Good, a gopher" , but then I spotted a long tail. Finally, I got her to put down the creature, which was a small possum. To my horror, she quickly ran over to another one that she had already killed on the lawn. By this time I could see she was definitely in an altered state and had been at this killing for some time. I found five in all in various stages of death. It took me about 10 more minutes to catch her and bring her into the house, my big red dog.
She clearly was tired and went into her den under my bed. Sometime in the night I was awakened by screaming. It sounded like a cat but I'm pretty sure it must have been the mother possum. I moved into the bedroom in the front of the house to sleep so that I couldn't hear her.
This morning when I opened my eyes in the narrow single bed, Sadie was stretched against my back out between me and the wall, with her soft red muzzle on my bare feet. Mayzy was up by my face lying half on my pillow. Even though it was already hot, both girls were wanting their pack close.
I got up and went out to deal with the carnage. I found 6 bodies in all and put them in a paper bag and took them up to the field behind Safeway.

I am trying out this new blog site to see how it works. My thoughts are that it could be an extention of the artists' way exercise. I don't know exactly what I am thinking--maybe creative or descriptive paragraphs or memories or maybe it would be a way of writing something with someone else. I haven't blogged before so I'm not quite up on the concept.
